Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Belt Test Registration Now Open!
September 23rd, 2011

All Locations -- Nothing is given everything is earned - This phrase holds particularly well for Carlson Gracie Team belt ranks. For only the second time since January '10, Carlson Gracie Team MMA will be holding belt rank testing for students of our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu programs (Gi is required). On Saturday, October 1st 1pm at our Aurora location, Black Belts Jeff Neal and Jason Sullins will be evaluating candidates for rank advancement by testing their knowledge of BJJ fundamentals taught in our programs.
Advancing a full belt rank is notoriously difficult. Unlike other Martial Arts that make a business out of creating dazzling rainbow arrays of belt colors, Carlson Gracie Team tradition mandates that any increase of full belt level be earned only through dedication and hard work which at higher levels can take years of mastery. However, candidates may also be promoted with incremental increases of stripe counts at their current belt rank as indicators of their progress.
Coach Jeff Neal had this to say, 'I think its important for our students to take advantage of this opportunity to asses their current skill level. Participating in belt testing will show them areas of their training that can be improved on. Its just another part of growing as a student of Jiu-Jitsu.'
