CGT has a Successfull Night at Babes & Brawls XI
May 14th, 2012

Ford Heights, Illinois (IL) -- If you missed Babes & Brawls XI, you missed one of the more exciting nights that Carlson Gracie Team fighters have been a part of. Three of the four CGT fighters not only one, but they put on an exciting show.
Starting the night for Carlson Gracie Team MMA was Jon Rivera against Mike Manning. The two spent little time feeling each other out as Mike went for a guillotine as Rivera was going for a take down. Rivera was able to escape the submission attempt. Much of the fight was spent on the ground with Manning being the more active fighter of the two. The fight would end up going the distance and ended with Mike Manning's hand raised.
The next CGT fighter to enter the Babes & Brawls cage was Craig "the Truth" Fruth. Craig's opponent was Tyson Castro from Billings Montana. The two felt each other out for the first few seconds of the round, but Craig took the fight to the ground. As he was able to get Tyson down to the ground, Craig immediately transitioned to side control. He was able to land several knees and punches to the head from side control, but eventually the referee brought the fighters to their feet. But the fight would not last much longer as Craig landed a left hook that dropped his opponent. Craig immediately went in to finish the fight, landing several more punches before the referee stepped in to call the fight. With this victory, Craig improves his MMA record to 7-0. In the post fight interview, he announced that he will be taking a few more fights as an amature before turning pro.
The Co-Main Event featured the return of CGT's Jorge Gonzalez. He is a Babes & Brawls veteran and this time he was going up against Team Quest fighter Ruben Covarrubias. The first round was mostly spent with Jorge in a dominant position on the ground, but with seconds left in the round, Ruben was able to get on top of him. The second round controversial round. Ruben was working in side control when the referee decided to stand the two up. Ruben was visibly upset as he had began building some momentum. The rest of the round was kept standing and Jorge seemed to have the advantage there. The entire third round was spent on the ground, with Ruben in a dominant position for just about the entire time. The fight went to the judges and Jorge came out victorious.
The Main Event of the night was the MMA debut of Mike "the Wardog" Reid. He was going up against another Team Quest fighter in Mike "the Pitbull" Hernandez. Hernandez had a clear height advantage, but Mike has made it a habit of beating taller guys on a regular basis. It was obvious that the gameplan was to take the fight to the ground, and that is what Hernandez did within seconds of the round beginning. Reid was able to reverse positions and get on top, he followed that up by slamming his opponent to the ground. Once Reid broke from his opponents guard, he began attacking his grounded opponent ferociously. Reid stuffed several takedowns throughout the round, and he also slammed his opponent to the ground once more. Reid would try to land his patented spinning backfist, but his opponent ducked and went for the takedown, eventually pulling guard. Reid would stand up once more, and landed back in his opponents guard after another takedown attempt. But this time, Reid would not let his opponent get back up. Reid attacked him tirelessly, forcing the referee to stop the fight. While the Wardog had an exciting and successful MMA debut, he announced minutes later that he would have a few more amature MMA fights but his end goal was to turn pro in boxing.
