Combat-Do - Mid West Jiu-Jitsu Championship Results

This past Saturday June 5th, the Carlson Gracie Team MMA Kids Competition Team took center stage at the Combat-Do Midwest Jiu-Jitsu Championship. Carlson Gracie Team MMA coaches Brian Bishop, Joe Benefiel, and Matt Collum along with top student Jeff Neal brought five of the kids competition team members to Cicero for this annual regional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Grappling tournament. Although the competition team has been no stranger to successful tournament performances, this tournament was the first to showcase the recent coaching additions of Joe Benefiel and Matt Collum who both bring with them impressive wrestling resumes.
'Congrats to our kids team coaches!', said top student Jeff Neal (who was in attendance), 'The balance of wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu made these kids hard to handle!'
When the kids took to the mats, the work of the coaching staff additions immediately began to show. Explosive take downs now combined with their well honed dominating Carlson Gracie ground game. When all was said and done at the end of the day the five kids who entered the competition left with 10 top finishes.
'Our kids have always done exceptionally well at tournaments. However, today has shown that these kids continued hard work and improvement has set the bar unbelievably higher.' remarked a very proud Brian Bishop ' I am very excited to see what these kids are going to accomplish at the larger tournaments to come!'
