Carlson Gracie Team MMA members prepare for Gracie Nationals 2010.
December 3rd, 2010

Auroa, Illinois ( IL ) -- For the first time since 2006, the Gracie Nationals jiu-jitsu tournament will take place in the Midwest. With the chance to be named a champion at one of the more prestigious grappling tournaments in the nation, some of the most talented jiu-jitsu practitioners across the county will be making the commute to Columbus, Ohio on December 4th and 5th. Being that it is the Gracie Nationals it wouldn't be the same without the presence of the Carlson Gracie Team.
The Carlson Gracie Team has had a history of bringing home many individual and team titles at the Gracie Nationals. With fourteen members (including three kids) making the trip to Columbus, there is sure to be an impact made by the bulldogs again this year. Many of the competitors are making repeat appearances while others have extensive competition experience in other various tournaments. Past Gracie Nationals champions from the Carlson Gracie Team, Mark Vujovic and Ryan Bishop, look to earn gold for a second time. Carlson Gracie Team MMA instructor Anthony Monahan who is a familiar face at the Aurora/Naperville and Minooka gyms will also be competing.
By walking into any one of the Carlson Gracie gyms, you will see mats full of members sharpening their skills and pushing themselves so that they will have the endurance to go far into the tournament. All of the members are aware that the many hours of practice that they put in day after day will ultimately lead to their success at Gracie Nationals. With the support of the Carlson Gracie Team MMA coaches and members, the competitors heading to the "Buckeye State" have already put in the work needed to make it another successful tournament.
On Saturday, December 4th, the tournament will kick off with the Gi portion while the No Gi tournament will be held on Sunday, December 5th. Competitors have the option of competing in both Gi and No Gi, with the divisions being broken down by belt color or experience. This will be the last major tournament of the year for many of our members and they will be looking to carry momentum from the Gracie Nationals into a busy 2011 for the Carlson Gracie Team.
